Toby and I are out to lunch at Starving Artists’ Bistro, one of our favorite spots. I manage to enjoy myself while still eating heart healthy. Nobody said I had to deprive myself.
Toby gets lunch too.
We had a nice hike on the Oakhurst River Parkway. It was not too strenuous, but, man, I was tired afterward. I think I have farther to go than I thought. I am determined to focus on how far I have come rather than how far I have to go.
As always, the drive to the Sierra foothills was gorgeous and fun.
The hike was nice, with a trail that followed the river in and around the lovely town of Oakhurst. It stayed more in town than I was looking for, but it was totally unpopulated so Toby could get off the leash for most of it. He stays with me and listens, so I like to let him explore.
I am using the AllTrails app to record these hikes so I can track my progress. It only gets better from here.

Cool hike! I used a similar app to track my fitness over the last few years and managed to (slowly but consistently) love about 40lbs. Obviously I had different goals, but stick with it. Science has shown that hiking is almost equally as good for the mind as it is for the body!

AllTrails is awesome! I like that you can download the map in case you have poor cell coverage. Not a replacement for GPS, but good enough for day hikes. Toby would’ve liked chasing the critters I came across today:
